The Holland Partner Group will start construction on one of Seattle’s tallest apartment skyscrapers, breaking ground yesterday across from the Paramount Theatre on Ninth Avenue. The tower at 815 Pine will have 386-units and is scheduled to be completed in late 2014. The Seattle Times reports that data from Dupre+Scott Apartment Advisors says that by the time the tower is completed, over 7 thousand other apartments will available as well. Clyde Holland, CEO and Chairman of the development group said he isn’t worried about a flooded market. “Demand for housing in these urban, walkable neighborhoods is effectively insatiable for the next two or three years,” Holland said, adding that young adults “have no desire for suburbia. They want to walk out their front door and be within walking distance of a dozen restaurants.” Holland believes the locations of the Tower and the conveniences close by will allow residents to be able to live with only one car instead of two or possibly even no car at all. In keeping with the look and feel of building and shops nearby, the Tower’s above-ground garage will feature “art walls” of glass lit with LED shifting colors of light. Units in the tower will range from 450-square foot studio apartments to family-sized 1,250 square foot, three bedroom apartments. http://atlaselectricinc.com.
